Poppy Smith
Teacher of Street Dance, Lyrical, Jazz, Cheer and Acrobatics
I’m Poppy and I’m currently at college studying my A-levels in Geography, PE and Maths. I’m hoping to head off to University this September to study Sports Business Management, which I’m really excited about!
I teach on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and I teach Lyrical, Jazz, Street, Acro and Cheer. You’ll also see me at Royals comps, at street comps on some Sundays, and I also do private lessons as well! In our classes, we work on routines for Street, Cheer, Lyrical and Jazz competitions, as well as Acro exam work. Alongside that, we focus a lot on technique, learning new skills, improving confidence and really pushing ourselves to be the best we can be. Most importantly though, we always make sure we’re having lots of fun and enjoying every class!
I absolutely love teaching because it’s so rewarding getting to watch everyone grow, not just as dancers but in confidence too. Seeing someone achieve a new skill, perform at a comp, or just come out of their shell a bit more each week is honestly the best feeling. I also love the energy everyone brings to class, it makes such a positive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy dance together. Especially recently seeing how friendly and welcoming the students have been to new trials has been so lovely to see what kind children are apart of Kings!
I’m often teaching back to back so don’t really see many parents, but if you have any questions for me send them onto Miss King and she always sends them to me, or ask one of the ladies on reception and they’ll be able to help!
