Meet the Dance Teaching Assistants
You may see some older dancers helping out in the younger classes. These are paid position teachers who are in training to become fully comprehensive teachers in the future. The positions are offered from 13 years onwards and assistants work closely with Miss King in admin and class assisting.
Miss Lexie
I have been attending Kings for around four years. What I love most about it, is how many opportunities we have for example going to London to dance at the O2 Arena and going to Las Vegas. At Kings, i take PEP, which stands for Professional Extension Programme. Every Monday I attended PEP from 7:00 to 7:45pm. Every week we learn a new style of dance that we may not have done before for example tap or ballet. What I enjoy about PEP is how we get to learn a variety of styles which supports us in the future if we wanted to try out something different. On a Tuesday, I go to Lyrical and Bodycon. Lyrical is from 7:00pm to 7:45pm and Bodycon is 7:45pm to 8:15pm. In lyrical we focus on technique training and learning new dances to different styles of songs with different tempos. What I love most about lyrical is how every week we learn new combinations of moves. In Bodycon we build our strength and do variations of cardio, stretching and strengthening. I most enjoy the stretching because it helps improve my flexibility. On a Friday from 8:00pm to 9:15pm I attended Acrobatics & Tumbling. My favourite thing aboutAcro & Tumbling is working on my balancing skills like my headstand and chest stand, I also love trying to achieve my Ariel in tumbling. At kings, I assistant teach in introduction to ballet, Tap and modern. I really enjoy helping with the little ones as it gives me experience for the future as I want to pursue dance as a career or one day become a teacher myself.
